Pick up points

Our bus departs from 17th and K Streets, NW, at 8:00 a.m. sharp every Sunday morning, unless otherwise noted in the schedule. There are no parking restrictions on Sunday in the pickup area. You can take Metro to this pickup point (Farragut North Red line stop, or Farragut West Blue/Orange/Silver line stop) in time to meet the bus. Map

Outings to Virginia and West Virginia will have an additional pickup in Virginia at the Vienna Orange Line Metro station (north parking area) at Nutley Street just north of Rte. I-66 at about 8:15 a.m. NOTE: This metro station has a north and a south parking area. Make sure you come to the north area. Map

Trips to Maryland and points north will have an additional pickup in Maryland at the Grosvenor Red Line Metro station at Tuckerman Lane off Rockville Pike in Bethesda (just north of the Beltway) at about 8:20 a.m. Map

On rare occasions the bus will pick up at both suburban locations. See schedule for information.

Depending on the hike, an alternate en-route pickup point might be possible. Contact the hike leaders to determine if it is feasible.

We generally return between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm, depending on distance traveled, traffic, etc.

Carpool Meeting Points

For carpool hikes, we meet at a Metro Station familiar to bus hikers, but instead of gathering at a bus bay, we gather at a specified area of the parking lot. Metro parking is free on weekends and federal holidays, except during special events. The meeting time for carpool hikes is 8:30 am. This gives enough time for hikers accustomed to boarding the bus at Farragut Square to take Metro to the designated station. (Red line from Farragut North to Grosvenor/Strathmore; Orange/Blue/Sliver line from Farragut West to Vienna.)

For hiking venues in Virginia and West Virginia, the meeting point is the north parking area of Vienna Metro Station. Enter the north parking lot from Virginia Center Blvd. Turn right after passing through the gate then right again toward the north end of the lot. Map

For hiking venues in Maryland and Pennsylvania, the meeting point is the outdoor parking area behind the parking garage (opposite Bus Bay E) of Grosvenor/Strathmore Metro Station. After turning into the station from Tuckerman Lane, keep left to pass the parking garage, go through the gate to the outdoor parking area behind the garage. Map
